“Scrum is an Agile method designed to add energy, focus, clarity and transparency to project planning and implementation. While some say Scrum is not a silver bullet, it can be a heat-seeking missile to outmoded business practices.”

Jeff is the co-creator of Scrum and a leading expert on how the framework has evolved to meet the needs of today’s business. The methodology he developed in 1993 and formalized in 1995 with Ken Schwaber has since been adopted by the vast majority of software development companies around the world. But Jeff realized that the benefits of Scrum are not limited to software and product development. He has adapted this successful strategy for several other industries including: Finance, healthcare, higher education and telecom.

As the CEO of Scrum Inc. and the Senior Advisor and Agile Coach to OpenView Venture Partners, Jeff sets the vision for success with Scrum. He continues to share best practices with organizations around the globe and has written extensively on Scrum rules and methods. With a deep understanding of business process — gleaned from years as CTO/CEO of eleven different software companies — Jeff is able to describe the high level organizational benefits of Scrum and what it takes to create hyperproductive teams.

Arline C. Sutherland

Arline Sutherland

Vice President for Strategic Operations, Scrum Inc.

“If you find that most of the meetings you attend are less than productive, if projects come in late despite working nights and weekends and if your clients aren’t satisfied with the end results — you’ll want to learn about Scrum.”

Arline brings her unique perspective as a Unitarian Universalist minister to the Scrum Inc. team.  Building on her experience of leading congregations through transitional issues by applying the core principles of Scrum, she wrote “Scrum in Church”, a guide for non-profit organizations to break down silos of knowledge, encourage communication and collaboration, and drive higher velocity and quality throughout the organization.

She joined the Scrum Inc team in December of 2010 as product owner, setting strategic priorities, ordering the backlog, and expanding the team.  She is the co-author of Scrum Inc’s new Product Owner course that she leads with Jeff.

Business Development, Scrum Inc.

“Scrum helps improve communication to increase productivity and decrease waste. It produces high-value, high-quality results with reduced time to market and happier workers.”

After working in several organizations that practiced traditional management methods, Christine knew there had to be a better way. She looked for companies that cared about efficiency, process improvement, eliminating waste and treating people right. That search led her to Scrum. Christine believes so strongly in the power of the Scrum principles that she’s dedicated her career to helping organizations apply them and gain tremendous benefits. Her role includes client outreach, development and marketing.
