Commitment to achieving Net Zero
Scrum Inc UK Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Baseline Year: 2024
Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations.
As this is our first year of reporting, we have not previously set a baseline year. We will use this year’s data as our baseline for future emissions reduction targets
Baseline year emissions:
Scope 1 0
Scope 2 0
All workers are now Home Workers and part of scope 3
Scope 3
(Included Sources)
531.2
Sources include:
Homeworker electricity emissions (home office)
Homeworker electricity emissions (air-conditioning)
Homeworker gas emissions
Train emissions (in work travel)
Petrol emissions (in work travel)

Emissions reduction targets
In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.
We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 424 tCO2e by 2030. This is a reduction of 20%

Carbon Reduction Projects
Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives
As this is our baseline year of reporting we do not have any figures to indicate any previous reductions
As we begin our carbon reduction journey, we are currently:

  • Conducting a thorough assessment of our operations to identify key areas for emissions reduction.
  • Developing a comprehensive strategy to implement energy-efficient practices across our business.
  • Exploring renewable energy options for our facilities.
  • Initiating an employee awareness program to promote sustainable practices.
  • Investigating ways to reduce our supply chain emissions

Upcoming Carbon Reduction Projects
We are implementing the following initiatives to reduce our carbon emissions, particularly those related to air travel as this has been an area of concern.

Travel Policy Updates:

  • Implementing a “stay or go” decision tree to assess the necessity of each trip
  • Encouraging virtual meetings as an alternative to short-duration trips

Optimising Necessary Flights:

  • Prioritising direct flights over connecting ones to reduce emissions from multiple take-offs and landings
  • Encouraging economy class travel over business class due to its lower carbon footprint
  • Selecting newer, more fuel-efficient aircraft when booking flights

Alternative Transportation:

  • Prioritising train travel for shorter journeys, especially within the UK and Europe
  • Utilising electric or hybrid vehicles for road trips when possible

Technology Investments:

  • Upgrading our video conferencing equipment to facilitate effective remote meetings
  • Implementing carbon accounting tools to accurately measure and report on travel-related emissions

Employee Engagement:

  • Providing training on the environmental impact of travel and how to make sustainable choices
  • Offering incentives for employees who choose lower-carbon travel options

Carbon Offsetting:

  • Developing a company carbon offsetting scheme for unavoidable travel
  • Exploring partnerships with reputable organisations to invest in verified carbon reduction projects

We will regularly review and adjust these strategies as new technologies and options become available in the rapidly evolving field of sustainable business travel.
